Andia’s Ice Cream Wins 2024 Best New Flavor in North America

Andia Xouris continues to break boundaries as the only female Grand Master Ice Cream Maker in the South and Southeast United States.

CARY, N.C. (Nov. 19, 2024) — Andia Xouris, CEO and head ice cream chef of Andia’s Ice Cream, has achieved a monumental milestone by earning her second Grand Master Ice Cream Maker title at the annual North American Ice Cream Association conference. This award recognizes excellence in manufacturing practices, food safety, and product quality demonstrated consistently over time.  To qualify for the Grand Master Award, a company must win blue ribbons at three different North American Ice Cream Association conferences within a five-year period.

Xouris earned her first Grand Master title in 2021, after having received three blue ribbons over a five-year period.  This year, her standout flavor was her French Vanilla, which ultimately lead to her securing the second Grand Master title.  Xouris is one of only four ice cream chefs in the country to have received a second Grand Master title.

"Winning a second Grand Master Award is an incredible honor, and I am deeply grateful to be recognized among the top ice cream chefs in North America," Xouris said. "This achievement is a testament to the passion, creativity, and dedication that go into every scoop we craft. I am humbled to share this journey with such talented peers and inspired to continue pushing the boundaries of what ice cream can be."

Submissions for a single blue ribbon are tested in accordance with FDA food safety standards and scored for quality by the Dairy Extension Team of Cornell University. Flavors are evaluated in six categories: flavor, body and texture, melting quality, color, bacteria-standard plate count, and bacteria-coliform. To win a blue ribbon, entries must meet high standards in each category, which Andia’s has done six years in a row.

In addition to being named a Grand Master Ice Cream Maker for the 2nd time, Andia’s Ice Cream received the 2024 Best Flavor of the Year award for its Mango Jalapeño Margarita flavor.  There were 144 entries for the flavor of the year, and Andia’s ultimately came out on top, securing votes from over 1000 people in the ice cream industry.

Xouris is the only female Grand Master Ice Cream Maker in the South and Southeast United States. Her innovative approach draws inspiration from her Cypriot heritage and a deep appreciation for diverse cultures, transforming bold ideas into flavors beloved by ice cream enthusiasts nationwide.

A James Beard Fellow, Xouris has led her family-run business to national prominence, operating multiple retail locations and a flourishing catering business in North Carolina, and shipping to all 50 states plus Canada through GoldBelly. Under her leadership, Andia’s Ice Cream has earned acclaim on "Good Morning America," in Southern Living magazine and has been ranked as a USA Today top 10 ice cream shop in the United Sates two years in a row.
